A Scented Legacy - Glass Magazine

It was a pleasure to talk to Caroline Simpson of Glass Magazine, about our story and our scented legacy, which can be found in the Spring 2026 edition of the magazine.

Founded in 1985 by the late Angela Flanders, a noted costume designer working in film and theatre, the fragrance and home-scent company is now run by her daughter, Kate Evans. Evans, a former fashion buyer for Harvey Nichols and Harrods, also had her own Spitalfields-based boutique Precious, which Angela named her fragrance Precious One after.

The fragrances are often inspired by fabrics such as Lawn (one of my favourites), Taffeta, Shantung Dream and the award-garnering Leather Rosa. “When I was a child, there were always fabrics in the house … from sparkly sequins to historic costumes,” says Evans. “I was given scraps of fabric to play with, or make patchwork or stitch. It always kept me occupied.”
